TTC – Module 10: Phonetics and Pronunciation in Language Teaching

This module equips educators with essential phonetic skills to enhance their teaching and communication effectiveness. The course will focus on the following key areas:

• Understanding Phonetics: Delve into the fundamentals of phonetics, exploring the production and classification of speech sounds, including articulatory phonetics and the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).
• Teaching Pronunciation: Learn effective strategies for teaching pronunciation, including techniques for articulating vowels and consonants, as well as the importance of stress and intonation in spoken language.
• Practical Application: Engage in interactive workshops, role-playing exercises and tongue twisters to practice phonetic transcription and develop lesson plans that incorporate phonetic principles, culminating in a personalized toolkit for teaching pronunciation.

By the end of this module, educators will confidently apply phonetic concepts in their teaching, improving both their own pronunciation skills and those of their students, ultimately fostering clearer communication in the classroom.
